Getting Organized

It’s time for my new adventure. Yes, I’m embarking on something I’ve never attempted before. Drumroll please…I’m getting organized. Normally, my organization consists of jotting down notes on random pieces of paper and then losing them. Or thinking I’ll remember. Or I leave the email in my inbox to jolt my memory only to spend an hour trying to find it. None of these methods worked out well.

I was pretty sure I was one of those people who would never be able to organize myself. But I caved when I found—thanks to my friend Janel—the cutest workbooks. They aren’t just adorable, (see pic below) they encourage you to think about your goals for the year. I’m not going to lie, it takes some time to get things documented and it does involve some woo-woo stuff too including readings from Oracle Cards. And it sure isn’t your typical kind of planner you might think about—like the Franklin Covey model. This is definitely for left-brained people—people who embrace creativity to the fullest and enjoy soul-searching and asking questions about your fears as well as your goals—all laid out in beautiful and colorful sheets just like the cover shot below.

While I won’t bore you with the gory details, I’ll give you a little insight into what you might expect. In case you’re interested in checking out Leonie Dawson’s fabulous workbooks check them out here:

They have both a life book and a biz book. I bought the life book because I didn’t think I needed both. I also bought some Ink Joy pens in 5 different colors to fill them out. Let me give you a little preview of what I’ve been working on: Page 82 in the workbook is about mottos. What are your mottos? This is what I wrote down: Cultivate magic, Embrace possibilities, Spread joy, Everything is always working out for me, and Peace, Love and Support. The next page along with an adorable pic the assignment is to list 10 things you want to celebrate about yourself. Makes you think, doesn’t it? I’m still working on my sacred word for 2017. I think I’m going with Awesome….The Oracle card I pulled for January is MAAT – fairness. The card is about trusting in the wisdom of the whole and peaceful outcomes. So what am I getting at? It’s a book of self-reflection, motivation as well as organization.

I’ll keep you posted on my progress. Have you ever tried to get organized? What’s your favorite tip for remembering things like b-days etc.? Do you use a planner? Put things in your phone?
